Back to Cartagena, we missed you! Time for 2 days of more wandering, fantastic dinners, $1 beers in the street, fresh mango for 50cents on the corner, carriage rides through the historic streets,
shopping for crap that you don’t need, being harassed to visit ANOTHER Emerald Jewelry shop, running into our street vendor friends – “no, I still don’t want a fat lady statue”, searching for the street vender that sold me that empanada the first night that was so good it made my leg shake, picture perfect moments around every corner, outdoor plaza’s with hostess’s begging you to sit at their tables, fantastic roof top sunset conversations because your key doesn’t work for your room,
day trip to the islands to snorkel and scuba dive, a return boat ride that makes you question whether you could swim back to shore when the boat flips over, searching for aloe b/c you didn’t buy sunscreen, eating steaks as big as your head that cost less than a pizza,
extra strong Colombian coffee with milk or is it milk with a splash of coffee?, random dance troups busting into drum beats and gyrations, 93 degrees worth of sweaty pants, and….. moments before departure finally finding that jamon y queso empanada I was lusting over - this caused us to be late leaving to the airport - but who cares! b/c I’m in a taxi leaving this magical place sharing my favorite Colombian treat with Jeff and our Cabbie enjoying every bite – leg shaking and all. Icing on the cake…. My trip is complete, now I can leave.

The best part of Cartagena, for me, is the energy and personality contained within its walls – its infectious. Wandering the streets with no destination except seeking precious moments, interactions and memories – that’s my style of travel; that’s what feeds me, excites me, and leaves me craving the next destination. Until then…..
