Destination - Cartagena Colombia

After a night of no sleep, we're leaving the cold of Chicago at 4am the day before Thanksgiving to land in the beauty that is Colombia. We get off the plane in Cartagena - the coastal historic city that is the treasure of the country. Like typical nattyfish travel, I showed up with very little plans other than to experience whatever I can..... and make it to my roommate Alejandro’s wedding that Saturday night!

Cartagena, The Fort Walled City

Hector and I stumble into our hotel room about 12 hours after starting our sleepless journey and decide to wander the walled city instead of a nap at the Delirio Hotel (amazing place to stay with an even more amazing staff). Another 12 hours later we return in a tired stupor filled with hours of fun, new friends, a palate for colombian beer, some random souvenirs (my musical Nattyfish), the best empanada I’ve ever had, pictures galore and it all left us wanting more! (I know what you mean Anthony Bordain!!!) In typical foreign country style, the local vendors loved us, we were the objects of their affection… or maybe is was our USA wallets? ;) That might be why we made so many friends so quickly, or why we got serenaded by all the wandering guitar player/singers, or how I ended up w/ my nattyfish musical coconut… will I ever even need this item? Haha Needless to say it all contributed to one of the bests nights spent here.

Street Vendors - You can eat/drink whatever and not worry about getting sick!!! And it's Cheap!

Hector & I at Bar Mantilla sampling ALL of Colombia's Beer - a $1 a piece why not try them all?

Serenading Guitar Singers - Fun times in Plaza de Santo Domingo
